Jagr Larson - CO - DIRECTOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Jagr began his hockey career right here in the Coachella Valley and has 16 years of experience playing competitive hockey. He started playing at various makeshift rinks throughout the desert before beginning his travel hockey career with the California Stars of Ontario in 2006, as there were no travel teams in the desert at the time.
From 2009 to 2012, Jagr played for the OC Hockey Club, where he was an integral part of the U14 AA team that won the California State Championship in 2011 and placed 8th at Nationals. That success allowed him to take a major step forward in his development, as he was fortunate enough to attend the prestigious Shattuck St. Mary’s hockey program in Faribault, Minnesota. From 2013 to 2016, Jagr not only learned from some of the best coaches in hockey, but also had the opportunity to play alongside many players who are in the NHL today.
Following his time at Shattuck, Jagr moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 2017 for one year of junior hockey with the East Coast Wizards in the EHL, playing under coach Freddy Meyer, who previously played for the New York Islanders and Atlanta Thrashers. His time in Boston propelled him into a college hockey career at Arizona State University, where he played three seasons for the ACHA Division I team and served as an Assistant Captain in 2019 before the pandemic shut down all sports. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2021.
Since concluding his playing career, Jagr has continued to develop his passion for player development and coaching. He returned to his alma mater, Shattuck St. Mary’s, where he coached four years of the school’s high-intensity summer camps, focusing solely on player development. Since 2014, Jagr has also dedicated countless hours to one-on-one and small-group skill development with young aspiring players throughout the Coachella Valley, passing along the same knowledge and tutelage taught to him by coaches such as Adam Knightingale and Gordie Stafford during his time at Shattuck.
Jagr’s goal as a coach is to give young players in the Coachella Valley access to the same level of instruction, development, and opportunities that helped shape his own career.
